12 leading employers and more than 100 students joined Career Advancement for the second annual Diversity & Inclusion Summit. Designed to celebrate workplace diversity and build connections between students, employers, and on-campus resources, the summit provided an opportunity for students of all backgrounds to learn more about diversity recruiting programs and understand the unique contributions they can make in the workforce.
The event kicked off with a keynote address from Jacqueline Robertson, AB’84, Global Head of Talent, Diversity, and Inclusion at William Blair. Ms. Robertson spoke passionately about how important it is for organizations to hire talent that brings a variety of perspectives and how the next generation of professionals will play a key role in building a culture of inclusion.
Students then had the opportunity to attend a series of thematic breakout panels where guest speakers from several top organizations shared their experiences and advice with attendees. Panel topics included cultural diversity, gender equality, LGBTQ individuals, and international students.
The summit concluded with a career-fair style open house, where students networked with more than 25 companies, campus departments, and RSOs and learned about the many exciting opportunities and resources they offer.
