Volunteering with Career Advancement

Career Advancement offers many ways for alumni, employers, family members, and friends of the University to connect with current students through the following volunteer opportunities:

Host UChicago Students

Supplement your recruitment efforts—whether you're hiring one Metcalf Intern or hosting a group of 8-20 students for a trek site visit—and see how UChicago students stand out from the rest. Opportunities are available to host students for treks, internships, job shadowing experiences, or small, on-campus networking and informational sessions.

Host a Reception

Receptions provide an opportunity for students to further their networking skills in a setting outside of the office, and also provides an opportunity for alumni to gain an understanding of what the student population is up to. Receptions can be hosted for treks or other regional programs.

Share Your Experience

Help UChicago students get a better understanding of possible career paths through industry-specific "UChicago Careers In" events/programming:

  • Host an on-campus workshop or training for a specific skill

  • Speak with students informally about your industry, company, or career path
