London Trek Gives Students Inside Scoop on Journalism and Arts Careers

18 students joined UChicago Careers in Journalism, Arts, and Media for its third annual trek to London. Students had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of career paths at some of the world’s most respected news broadcasters, museums, and cultural organizations. Common themes from the trek visits included the unconventional career trajectories for many working in these fields, the fast-paced evolution of journalism and the arts, and the value of having an interdisciplinary skill set.

After this trek, I still have no idea what I want to do after graduation. But the key difference is that it no longer terrifies me—it exhilarates me. Instead of looking like a long, dark hallway, my future now looks like a series of doors with beautifully elaborate detector locks just waiting to be picked and open. –Michelle Kim, AB ’16
