A group of UChicago students had the unique opportunity to explore finance and consulting opportunities in Toronto with 7 peers from Colby College in Waterville, ME. The trek connected students with top firms seeking talent at either their Canadian offices or American branches. Students familiarized themselves with the Toronto employment landscape, skills that local employers seek in their applicants, and how they can leverage their liberal arts education in their job search.

Throughout this trek, I got to connect with amazing group of students from both UChicago and Colby College who made the experience very memorable. I especially liked how this was a joint trek with another college as I was able to learn more about student life on other campuses and what classes they took. From this trip, I have gained more in-depth information about careers in financial services and can now better polish my relevant skills. I have also gained valuable networking connections that I can utilize during my third year. If given the opportunity to go on another trek, I would definitely accept again." -Carolyn Mei, AB '18
Another important lesson that was emphasized at many firms was the broad range of expertise the business industry covered. Upon the trek, I met people from the firms who studied economics, chemistry, physics and history. It was extremely obvious that many skills and majors could be easily translated to jobs in the business world." -Katherine Chen, AB '19
