STEM Explorer Program - New York, NY
The STEM Explorer Program is a 3-day experience led by Career Advancement for up to 20 incoming first-year students. As part of the experience, students will build a network with other members of the incoming class and local UChicago alumni and enjoy the food, culture, and environment of New York City.
The program is designed for students eager to explore careers in STEM, regardless of their industry experience. STEM Explorer Program participants will meet seasoned professionals and leaders across NYC’s thriving STEM industries, from technology to research & development to the environment, and many more. Participants will have the chance to visit with different companies and experience a day-in-the-life of a scientist or engineer through hands-on interactions with alumni and employers. Through cohort-based activities led by a Career Advancement staff member, students will also explore the city and have a chance to connect with other members of the incoming class prior to their start at the University.
All participants will be matched with a roommate for lodging purposes and will have the opportunity to engage with other program participants online prior to the start of the program.
PROGRAM COST
$1,000. Includes lodging, meals, local transportation between site visits, and the cost of organized group activities. Need-based financial aid may be available.
