Healthcare Explorers

The Healthcare Explorers program helps first-year students kickstart their career discernment journey in healthcare and other clinical careers such as social work. This one-year program will introduce students to professional development resources and activities they can utilize to pursue careers as successful, compassionate, and dedicated care providers.

Over the course of their first year at UChicago, Healthcare Explorers cohort members complete immersive and exploratory career preparation programming that includes professional development workshops, mentorship from upperclassmen, funded internships and research experiences, and invaluable networking opportunities with industry leaders and faculty.

All rising first-year students are eligible to apply for Healthcare Explorers. Prior experience is not required!

WHAT STUDENTS CAN EXPECT

  • Tailored 1-on-1 career advising to discern your interests in the vast world of medicine (minimum once a quarter)

  • Networking opportunities and expert speaker events

  • Access to upper-division student mentors, to informally discuss career goals, classes, internships, life at UChicago, and more

  • Panelist events with specialists across fields in healthcare, social work, veterinary medicine, dentistry, and biotech

  • Professional development workshops such as resume and cover letter building, public speaking, and seeking out research and clinical experience

  • Guaranteed funding for summer internship experiences

APPLICATION

All members of the incoming Class of 2029 are eligible to apply. Applications will open in Spring 2025.
