Med Student Mentors

The Med Student Mentors Program connects students and alumni applying to medical school with University of Chicago alums at medical schools across the country. Mentors share insights from their own experience and support and affirm your unique journey to medicine. Mentors are open to having conversation about all aspects of the pre-med experience from deciding if medicine is right for you to choosing among multiple offers of admission.

Mentees are connected to mentors based on their specific goals or concerns. Examples of questions mentees can ask include but are not limited to:

  • How did you decide you were ready to apply?

  • What strategies did you use to balance MCAT studying during the academic year?

  • How did you decide between MD and MD/PhD programs?

  • How should I prepare for Multiple Mini Interviews?

  • How did you choose your letter writers?

  • How did you decide on your school list?

  • What was your experience being pre-med as a first-generation college student?

  • What should I look for in a post-bac program?

  • What is the interview experience like at your school?
