Luther H. Foster, Jr. Public Service Internship Program

The Luther H. Foster, Jr. Public Service Internship Program provides career resources, leadership development, and funded internship opportunities for students pursuing public interest careers, including government, policy, think tanks, nonprofits, and social service. All incoming first-year students are eligible to apply.

Workshops, Programming, and Internships

The program offers a comprehensive series of workshops to help students build the knowledge, connections, and skills they need to launch a successful career in public service. Upcoming workshop topics may include:

  • From Passion to Action: Introduction to Public Service Careers

  • Personal Branding and Storytelling

  • Informational Interviewing and Career Research

  • Interview Preparation

In addition to expert support from program staff, all Luther Foster Program participants will receive an upperclass student mentor. Students will have opportunities to meet with their mentor throughout the program to informally discuss career planning, networking internships, and more.

The program also helps students secure funded internship opportunities.

How to Apply

Applications will open for Class of 2028 students on May 16 and will be due by July 8, 2024. Interested students can apply using this form.
